After the 1950's, Through special immigration policies, many governments encouraged thousands of women from ex-colonies to leave their native countries, leaving behind their husbands, children and extended families to pursue what was presented as a batter life. For many of these abandoned children the only thing they grew up to know of their mothers was the occasional arrival of goods in boxes, crates and barrels. Those children are call Barrel Babies.
