Synopsis

Sixteen years have passed since Rakesh Trivedi (Saif Ali Khan) and his wife Vimmi Saluja Trivedi (Rani Mukerji) retired from conning others with the brand "Bunty Aur Babli" for money, having been let go by JCP Dashrath Singh.

A businessman named Chaddha (Neeraj Sood), as well as his rich affiliates, decide to invest money (Rs 5 L per person) for a pleasure trip to a "party nation" by Chaddha's assistant and his friend. However, it soon turns out that Chaddha and his associates have been conned, and the culprits, revealed to be Kunal Singh (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Sonia Rawat (Sharvari Wagh), decide to take on the pseudonym "Bunty Aur Babli", having heard stories of the original "Bunty Aur Babli" who were never caught, assuming that they would be able to escape from the clutches of the law, too.

Rakesh has since becomes a railway ticket collector at Phursatganj, Uttar Pradesh and Vimmi a homemaker who looks after her now grown-up son, Pappu.Pretty soon, they are holed up by the police, whence Inspector Jatayu Singh (Pankaj Tripathi), who previously served as JCP Dashrath's junior, refuses to take their word for it after confronting them with the "Bunty Aur Babli" fiasco, and keeps them under prison surveillance.

Despite these efforts, however, Varanasi's Mayor Chutvaa Chaubey (Yashpal Sharma) is conned by "Bunty Aur Babli" yet again. They pose as Scientific advisers to the PM, who have come to lease out Ganga waters on PPP, to private contractors who will keep the Ganga clean and in exchange will have usage rights over the water to recover their costs. Chaubey bribes Bunty and Babli to get the lease contract and gets the river cleaned in 2 days. Chutvaa later realizes that he has been conned.The original Bunty and Babli are in the locker when this scam happens, and Jatayu realizes that he made a mistake in arresting them.Sonia wants to launch a food app, but struggles to get funding for it, as she has no experience. Sonia says the day she has enough money to fund her app, she is out.

Jatayu tells originals that there is a lot of pressure to arrest Bunty and Babli, and he will arrest them, unless they help him figure out the duplicates.A fuming Rakesh and Vimmi decide to find out whoever is misusing their identity and capture the flag, claiming that they are the real players. They interview the previous victims to understand the tactics of the duplicates. Meanwhile Jatayu schemes to catch the original Bunty and Babli (while they commit a crime), along with the duplicates.

The duplicates con a FCI warehouse for 1000 tons of wheat. The originals figure (10 trucks had been leased under a fake name for Kanpur) they will try and sell it in the Kanpur grain market. They contact the biggest trader Thehrey Singh (Asrani), who has the capacity to buy this grain in cash. The duplicates call Thehrey to contact him at a Holi fair. The originals, along with Jatayu, look out at the fair and after a long chase, the originals manage to corner the duplicates. Jatayu arrests them, but has to let them go as there is no evidence against the duplicates (there is no grain and they don't match the sketches made by the victims of the duplicates)

Rakesh is convinced that he had the duplicates and convinces Vimmi to track them as they will conduct their next con soon. Meanwhile the duplicates distribute the stolen grain the villages of UP for free. The villagers complain about "Didi" collecting taxes from the people on her birthday. The duplicates make a call to IT Officer Nand Kishore (Gopal Datt) with this information. The Originals figure out the plan and inform Jatayu, who takes the police force to the IT raid, in a bid to arrest the duplicates. Nand Kishore's team is surrounded by Didi's supporters during the raid, and he calls in his QRT. Turns out the QRT was disabled, and Kunal leads the fake QRT team, loads the cash (Rs 200 Crores) into the van and escapes, from there.Jatayu insults the originals saying that they are past their prime and that they should retire. They are spurred into action and vow to bring down the duplicates.

Meanwhile the duplicates try and figure out how to launder 200 Crores in cash. The originals contact Papaji (Prem Chopra) and Mehmood (Brijendra Kala) to ask for their help in conning the duplicates. They track down the duplicates to a resort town, where Mehmood lures them to give him a lift and exposes a bag full of cash. He hands over the cash to Papaji and later tells the duplicates that he is sending his cash out of the country via Hawala, who will then launder his money into white and transfer it back into India. This network is headed by "Bhuller".The duplicates ask Mehmood for the contact as they also want to launder their cash. By paying Papaji Rs 20 Lakhs, they learn Bhuller is in Abu Dhabi, with his wife Cutie. Kunal tries to gain Bhuller's attention by buying all the caviar in the hotel (which Bhuller likes) or by buying the racehorse Cutie was bidding on.

The Bhullers play hard to get, specifically when Sonia tries to seduce Bhuller, after Kunal fails to get his attention. Finally, Kunal approaches Cutie and makes a deal for her help with laundering Rs 200 Crores. They are given an address in Delhi to bring their cash. At the basement of an abandoned building, the originals film the transfer of cash as proof against the duplicates. Then Vimmi captures the duplicates by smashing her car into theirs.

Under captivity, the duplicates reveal that they took the life of crime out of frustration as the system is corrupt. They tried education but didn't get a job. They had no other choice. Bunty and Babli were their inspiration. They only kept 10% of what they stole. 90% was given away in charity.The originals let the duplicates go, only to find out that the notes they brought were fake. The originals and Jatayu think they have been duped by the duplicates.

Turns out this was all a plan to fool Jatayu. Eventually Rs 180 Crores is deposited in orphanages across the country and the Originals and Duplicates meet in Abu Dhabi to execute their next con together.
