This is the first documentary film whose authors tried to understand how it happened that an ordinary guy from the Moscow suburbs, armed with one guitar, was able to win the love of a huge country. When the work on it began, the authors faced one difficulty: there were very few materials where Vladimir Vysotskiy, living singing and talking, would have been filmed, and all of them, as a rule, were of low quality; materials were collected bit by bit, they were received from different countries of the world and television studios in country.—Bazza the Beast
