In the American city of Snowfield, a new Holy Grail War is about to erupt. Such ruthless confrontations pit against each other magic experts known as magi, who ascend to the status of Master by summoning Servants-heroic spirits of the past. The winner is thought to have any one of their wishes granted. However, it appears that the organization behind the present situation has merely managed to create an imperfect copy of the Third Holy Grail War. As the unusual ritual catches the attention of the Mage's Association in London, Flatt Escardos, the young apprentice of Lord El-Melloi II-a former participant of the Fourth Holy Grail War-travels to Snowfield and, to the great dismay of his teacher, joins the ranks of the Masters. In this fake conflict where the line between Masters and Servants is blurred, the different factions will have a hard time preventing the city of Snowfield from plunging into total chaos.—MAL Rewrite

Fate/strange fake is a light novel from the Fate franchise that takes place in an alternate universe, where various factions fight for the Holy Grail in a fictional US town called Snowfield. The story begins with the participation of a new Servant, called False Archer, who belongs to the Church faction. With its appearance, several other factions are forced to reveal their Servants and participate in the fight for the Holy Grail.

Throughout the story, characters engage in epic, strategic battles as they try to uncover the secrets behind the Holy Grail and the town of Snowfield. Among the main characters, we have the former soldier of the American army, Ricardo Coração de Leão, who is the Servant of the False Archer; an undercover Japanese government agent, Flat Escardos, who is the master of False Archer; and a young exorcist from the Church, Jester Karture, who is the master of the True Archer.

In addition to these characters, there are several other Servants and Masters involved in the story, each with their own motivations and agendas. The story is full of twists and turns, with characters fighting not only for the Holy Grail, but also for their own personal vendettas and secret goals.

A plot involves conspiracies, mysteries and supernatural elements, including the presence of beings known as "False Servants", which are creatures that take the form of true Servants. The story also explores themes such as the nature of humanity and the quest for power, as the characters fight for survival in the midst of a deadly battle.
