Shankarankutty prevents Ananthan from committing suicide and asks him to take up the job of elephant trainer that was offered to him. Ananthan accepts it, but has some ulterior motives.

Shankarankutty (Prem Kumar) is a descendant of a long line of elephant trainers. He goes to college and completes his degree but is unable to find a job. He refuses to do elephant work which his father insists and leaves the house to prove his worth and to find a job. He goes hungry after a few days and through fate and desperation runs into Anantha Padmanabhan (Jagadish), who is about to commit suicide. Shankarankutty talks him out of it, and tells him his story and how there is a job open for him as an elephant trainer and that he is refusing to go. The next day Ananthan leaves and goes to the town. He pretends to be Shankarankutty to get his job as an elephant trainer. Luckily, he is able to tame the wild elephant and keep the job. Soon, he becomes the talk of the town. Shankarankutty finds out and goes to confront Ananthan. Shankarankutty thinks that Ananthan took the job for money, but Ananthan has ulterior motives.—Jojo Mathews
