A TV anchor keeps on blaming God for his unsuccessful life. God appears and he is given the God's Power for 10 days just to see how he manages to keep everyone happy.
Arun Prajapati has been trying to be a successful TV anchor but success has always eluded him. He only blames God for this. Arun is head over heels in love with Alia, who is a TV anchor and a well-known star working in the same channel but he has never been able to express his love for her. Destiny plays a cruel game with him when Rocky is appointed as an anchor for the channel. Arun starts believing that Rocky will win over Alia. Circumstances go out of hand for Arun and he gets thrown out of the channel. He has nobody to blame but God Himself. And very soon he has an encounter with the Almighty. An argument ensues between the two. God then decides to give Arun the power to run earth for ten days as Arun claims that he can do a better job. After Arun becomes God, he becomes successful. Arun Prajapati lives a middle-classed lifestyle in a Chawl along with his dad, a retired Municipal employee; mom, and a rather plain-looking sister, Madhu. He is employed with Channel One and is in love with fellow-employee, Alia Kapoor. Arun faces a series of incidents which lead to not only public humiliation but he also ends up losing Alia to a new employee, Rakesh Sharma, and gets fired, much to his father's displeasure. Arun questions God and one morning is granted an interview with Him. A disbelieving Arun meets God and after a short discussion agrees to take over all of His responsibilities for a period of 10 days. Arun is head over heels in love with Alia Kapoor (Priyanka Chopra), who is a TV anchor and a well-known star working in the same channel, but he has never been able to express his love for her. At home AP had father (Anupam Kher) who constantly berates his for failing at life & sister who is not very good looking and hence has trouble in finding a groom that would accept her.AP is on the verge of being fired upon the failure of his show "Mano Ya Na Mano". He pitches a new show to his boss, which is only accepted when Alia puts up a personal guarantee for AP. The show is designed to use a lie detector to expose fraudsters on live TV.
Rocky (Sohail Khan) is a good friend of Alia from childhood & now joins the TV channel as creative director. Rocky is very charming & wins everyone with his wits. Rocky knows from office gossip that AP loves Alia but doesn't have the guts to tell her.AP works very hard on his new show and creates a presentation for the sponsors & media at a grand launch party. But Rocky steals the presentation without AP's knowledge. As AP is humiliated in front of a large crowd, Rocky steps in with the stolen presentation to save the day & become the hero.
Rocky (Sohail Khan) is appointed as an anchor for AP's show, Arun starts believing that Rocky will win Alia. Later, Arun is sacked from the channel. AP has nobody to blame but God Himself, whom he later meets in person. An argument ensues between the two, at the end of which God then decides to give Arun the power over all things for ten days, wherein Arun may prove that he is a better operator of the universe.
AP uses his powers to defeat terrorists and rescue kids, which makes him an overnight hero, so much so that his old boss begs him to rejoin the channel, which he does. AP uses this power to put Rocky into an uneasy spot and win Alia's heart.AP also converts his ugly sister into a certified hottie and gets her married to a respectable household. He then makes Rocky say insulting sentences to a prominent politician, Alia, the channel's boss & to the public on this show, on air. This gets rocky fired & AP is invited to take back hosting duties for his show.
After God scolds him for only making things better for himself, Arun starts listening to people's prayers. He later realizes that considering each person's wishes individually would be too time-consuming, so to save time and effort he grants everybody's wishes, including the wish of criminals to be free and Rocky's wish that Alia marries him. AP rushes to Alia's wedding, which is attacked by criminals released from jail. In the ensuing scuffle, Alia is shot & dies.
He later asks God why everything is happening towards him. God explains it is his own fault and that everyone cannot blame Him for this. Arun feels bad, but God forgives him and starts his life over again. His life resets to the point when he is fired by his boss for messing up the presentation. The next day, during the game show, he tricks Rocky by making him take the lie detector test & proves that Rocky had not made the presentation, had stolen it & was also lying about loving Alia Kapoor (who was present on the show, as it was the channel's first game show), and Alia turns on him. Arun wins the heart of Alia.
