Summaries

Isabella Rossellini dramatizes insect and sea creature mating rituals. Witty narration and costumes entertain by presenting straightforward facts about reproduction.

The birds and the bees - without birds but with fish. A compilation of 14 short films dramatizing the sex life and mating habits of eight home and garden denizens (bee, fly, mantis, snail, worm, dragonfly, firefly, and spider) and five sea creatures (whale, starfish, limpet, anglerfish, and barnacle). In each segment, a costumed Isabella Rossellini plays the part of an animal, offering both narration and dramatization of its body, its organs, and their functions in reproduction. Animals mate, some die in the process, and species continue. The script and actions emphasize wit and humor while facts remain straightforward.—<jhailey@hotmail.com>
