Criminal detective Peter Smith (Gunner Lauring) stumbles over a murder mystery in the clothing store when out for buying himself a new hat.

Detective assistant Peter Smeth pays a visit to "Magasin Heiberg" together with his young and charming wife, Louise, where he has to buy a new hat at his wife's express request. The idea does not amuse him, but there is no excuse. Then, however, an event suddenly occurs that makes the couple change their mind. The daughter of the magazine's owner, Inge Heiberg, is found passed out in the magazine's yard, and Peter and Louise rush over. The fainting turns out to be surrounded by some mystery.—Nordiskfilmplus
