Eric is marrying Louise. His brother Anthony has been married to Helen for eight years and wants to warn Eric marriage won't be that great. Helen's not too happy either.
They lived happily ever after...
Or at least that's newlywed Louise's dream when she marries computer wiz Eric. But things start to go wrong at a wildly comic wedding party where two other marriages come to an end and wedding cake flies.
Then, on their wedding night at a beautiful waterfront retreat, her new husband prefers his computer to his lovely bride and their marriage bed. The next morning, her irresponsible but charming brother-in-law Jamie, after ruining his own marriage in just seven weeks, embarks on a campaign to seduce Louise away from Eric.
But most disturbing of all, a strange homeless man appears at the water's edge. Louise watched from the window as he starts building a mysterious construction out of driftwood.
When she works up the courage to confront this charismatic loner, he announces that he's trying to raise the dead. And he wants her help.
Inside the house, the honeymoon has gone from bad to worse. Eric is still obsessing over his computer, leaving his bride all alone in bed, Jamie's hysterical wife has moved in and is threatening suicide, and Jamie is trying to seduce every woman in sight.
When Louise learns that the madman on the bench is suffering from shattering grief over the death of his baby, she soon finds herself increasingly drawn to his world.
In a climax that is powerful and hilarious, the apparent madman leads a séance of the honeymooners and their friends. When an unexpected event reminds everyone that life itself is a miracle, Louise finds herself falling in love on her honeymoon with the unlikeliest of men.
