While vacationing with her husband in Italy, a middle-aged woman wakes up one morning to find that the man in bed with her is an impostor. He, however, claims that he is her husband, and she cannot get anyone to believe her.

The first of three TV-movie versions of the French play by Robert Thomas, "Piège pour un Homme Seul" (Trap for a Single Man), which itself was based on the Indian films "Sesh Anka" and "Puthiya Paravai"; which were inspired by the British film "Chase a Crooked Shadow." (The later TV movies, both American, were "One of My Wives is Missing" and "Vanishing Act.") In this version, the would-be single man is a would-be single woman. Instead of a man on honeymoon with his wealthy new wife, who disappears after an argument and reappears as an impostor, Janet Leigh is a woman on honeymoon with her wealthy new husband, who disappeared--a an impostor is claiming to be her husband. She protests that this stranger is not her husband, but his papers and identity photos are all in order. There is every indication that he is, indeed, the husband he claims to be. But he can't be. Can he?—Micheal McLoughlin
