Synopsis

The story begins as four friends Jiggy, Rotlu, Sandhya and Shaleen travel with a guest to an airport, when they offer to tell Jiggy's date, air hostess Mala Mishra (Renuka Kunzru), the love story of two college best friends: a polite and peaceful Rajput named Jai "Ratz" Singh Rathore, and an impulsive girl named Aditi "Meow" Mahant. Mala is irritated as she hates airports, and Jiggy has not yet asked her to be his girlfriend. Mala is not a romantic and believes that real love does not exist.

Jai Singh Rathore - 'Ratz' (Imran Khan), the most non-violent Rajput either side of the Aravalli. And meet, if you dare, the violent and passionate Aditi Mahant - 'Meow' (Genelia D'Souza). Whatever you do, do not pick a fight with her. Only Jai can reason with her. Both are good friends. Aditi dreams of an overly virile husband, while Jai wants a sweet, romantic girl.

Jai thinks Aditi's parents should have rinsed her mouth with soap when she was a child. Aditi thinks that Jai is the biggest coward she has ever encountered.Aditi was the type of person who would hold a funeral prayer for her dead cat and make all her friends attend the same. Jai would go along with this, as he could not see Aditi cry.

Ravindran "Rotlu" Sahu (Karan Makhija) weeps secretly for Aditi. Bombs' heart explodes for Jai. Jignesh "Jiggy" Patel (Nirav Mehta) applies golden mascara to his hair. Shaleen (Sugandha Garg) well, she's probably the only one who doesn't seem a few notes short of a concerto. Sandhya "Bombs" Sahay (Alishka Varde) had a crush on Jai.

Jai's mom Savitri (Ratna Pathak) has made him promise that Jai will never get in a fight as his dad Amar (Naseeruddin Shah) did not like violence & was killed when he went to stop 2 people fighting. But the truth was that Amar was a true Rajput & came in Jai's dreams to inspire him of his Rajput roots. Jai's mom confronted Amar in his portrait & the portrait of Amar spoke back to her.

Jai and Aditi are perfect for each other (in some odd, distorted way, impossible to understand). Friends know this. Parents know this. Everybody knows this. Vishwas "Peachy" Mahant (Jayant Kripalani) & Vishakha "Pumpkin" Mahant (Anuradha Patel) (Aditi's parents) even decide to ask Jai if he wants to marry Aditi, as they have seen the 2 of them being together for 5 years. But Jai & Aditi recoil at the suggestion. They then decide to find the perfect match for each other.

Jai meets Meghna (Manjari Fadnis) at a bar & saves her from some goons, with his wits. They instantly connect. Meghna & Ratz get closer & closer, Rotlu, Jiggy, Sandhya, and Shaleen are happy for Jai, but nobody notices that Aditi is missing Jai's company. Aditi is marginalized & is royally angry.

Savitri is a social activist & is against Inspector P. K. Waghmare (Paresh Rawal) for locking up & beating young boys for petty crimes. She confronts him & he insults her. Jai is about to take matters into his own hands, but his mom stops him.

Meghna takes Jai to meet her parents. Dad Mahesh (Rajat Kapoor) is an alcoholic & mom Sheela (Kitu Gidwani) is a flirt, but Meghna is oblivious to the tension between them, & thinks they are cute together.

Aditi is so angry that she hooks up with her dad's friend's son, Sushant Modi (Ayaz Khan), who is the exact type of person she is looking for. She even gets engaged to him. But Sushant has feelings for his ex-girlfriend Richa & even picks up meaningless fights with Richa's new boyfriends.At Jiggy's party, she introduces Sushant to everyone. Both Jai and Aditi are upset with their relationship. During a romantic dance, Sushant finds that Aditi is crying and kisses her.Jai cries when he sees Aditi kissing Sushant.

After Meghna tried to cheer him up, Jai chides her for being ignorant of her parents' issues. She breaks down and tells him about her parents' divorce due to Mahesh's extramarital affair. The next day Meghna & Jai talk & cordially decide to part ways as Jai still has feelings for Aditi.

Now Aditi talks to Sushant about doing a 3-year course in NY before marriage. Sushant is angry. He confronts Aditi & she admits that she still loves Jai. Sushant hits her & leaves. When Jai finds out, he beats Sushant up & is locked up in Jail by Waghmare.

Aditi has already told Jai that she is leaving for NY for 3 years. In Jail, Jai meets his cousin brothers Kuber "Baloo" Singh Rathore (Arbaz Khan) & Vinay "Bagheere" Singh Rathore (Sohail Khan) who are also Rathors from Ranchod. The two brothers who were found harassing Meghna at the club and is surprised to see them celebrating their imprisonment.Jai mentions that he is the son of late Amar Singh Rathore, and the brothers confirm that his mother's name is Savitri. They clutch him to the ground in joy, and he discovers in an epiphany when they address him as "Mowgli", that the brothers are his long-lost cousins.In jail they tell Jai the true story of Amar Singh & how brave & violent he really was. Jai realizes that Amar was never the non-violent type Savitri had painted him as and that she was lying to him all along.Bhanu & Bhageere are sons of a Rajasthan MLA & use their clout to get Jai released.

They had come to jail to fulfill 3 conditions of becoming a man of the Rathor family: ride a horse, beat a man & go to jail. As MLA's sons no one was arresting in Rajasthan, hence they came to Mumbai.

Jai borrows their horse & goes to the airport. He hoodwinks airport security, which is extra ordinarily lame & inept & reaches Aditi's boarding gate & professes his love to her. She accepts & they both are a couple & go to NY together.

Back in the present, the four friends welcome Jai and Aditi at the airport. Mala gets delighted to see them and introduces herself as Jiggy's girlfriend, before they leave the airport together.
