Synopsis

In a surreal and chaotic world, Nick and Pascal, two friends and filmmakers, discover that they have accidentally opened a portal to different alternate universes through their previous videos. This portal allows characters from their videos, such as the animated and live-action worlds they've created, to invade their own universe.

When the duo realizes that variants of themselves and other characters from their videos are entering their world through the portal, it becomes clear that they are dealing with dangerous multiversal chaos. The variants, all somehow connected to Nick and Pascal, range from a Jedi and a Kylo Ren variant to a radio amateur and even superheroes like Spider-Man. As the confusion mounts, more and more duplicates and alternative versions of the characters appear in their world, leading to unpredictable and absurd situations.

In an attempt to control the situation, Nick and Pascal meet Spider-Man, who explains that these "variants" are different versions of themselves from parallel universes, each with its own unique characteristics. As the threat of chaos increases, the different variants of Nick and Pascal begin to overlap in their world, leading to comedic and often dangerous confrontations. The confusion reaches its peak when some violent variants start fighting and even causing death.

The climax takes place in the schoolyard of Cibap, where an intense battle breaks out between various variants. As Kylo Ren and the right-hand, an evil variant of Pascal, engage in a violent confrontation, and Spider-Man and Nick try to mediate, it becomes clear that they are losing control of the situation. Eventually, Nick gets shot by the right-hand, and his final breath fades in Pascal's arms.

The chaos spreads throughout the city of Zwolle, where news reports mention numerous variants wandering through the city, creating a sense of complete confusion and panic. The story ends with a reporter stating that the bodies of various variants have been found around Cibap and that everyone is wondering where the creators of this absurd multiverse - Nick and Pascal - are.

After the funeral of his friend Nick, Pascal arrives home, still in a suit, with Mirjam. As they discuss the day, Pascal notices he has five missed calls from Spider-Man. Curious, he opens a video message in which Spider-Man tells him that despite his grief, people need his help. Multiple versions, or "variants," of familiar people appear to be roaming around in their universe, and Spider-Man has sent someone to help Pascal. As Mirjam faints in shock, the doorbell rings. Cautiously, Pascal opens the door and finds Henry, a variant of his deceased friend Nick from another universe.

Henry tries to convince Pascal that he can help solve the chaos of the different universes. Although Pascal is initially suspicious and confused by the situation, he eventually overcomes his doubts and agrees to work together. Henry explains that there is a way to close the portals between the universes by "triggering" genres from different eras. If they do this, all variants will be pulled back into their own universe.

Henry reveals that he comes from a musical universe and suggests playing music that spans all genres. If they execute this plan, they will hopefully be able to close the portals. To do this, they must find various songs representing different styles and eras. They search record stores for the right music and assemble a collection. As they prepare, a montage unfolds of the boys browsing through records and discussing which songs would suit their mission.

During their quest, Henry also shares personal details. He wears a green bracelet that reminds him of his version of Nick, who had a strong bond with him, similar to the bond Pascal had with his own Nick. This emotional moment strengthens their resolve to save the different universes.

Meanwhile, other characters, such as Robin and Mirjam, are confronted with external threats. The right-hand, the evil variant of Pascal, and Kylo Ren, a mysterious figure with dark intentions, appear on the scene. They are searching for Pascal and Henry, presumably to stop them or to gain control over the multiverse.

Pascal and Henry travel to Deventer, the location where they plan to execute their musical plan. Just as they begin to play, they discover that the right-hand and Kylo Ren are on their heels. A thrilling chase and confrontation ensue, with Pascal and Henry fighting their opponents. While trying to escape, they play various songs to close the gates between the universes.

During the fight, Pascal gets injured, but it turns out to be just a scratch. Henry and the right-hand become embroiled in a physical battle. Eventually, Henry manages to take down the right-hand, but the threat of Kylo Ren remains. Kylo Ren tries to force Pascal and Henry to tell him how to gain control over the multiverse. Tension rises to the extreme when Jedi Ivo appears to help them. Ivo battles Kylo Ren and eventually defeats him by cutting off his hand, while Henry plays the Star Wars theme on the guitar.

Despite their successes, Pascal and Henry realize that their adventure is not yet over. The different universes remain unstable, and they must act quickly to restore everything before the chaos escalates further. As the sky turns purple and the universe seems to be in disarray, they prepare for a final battle to save the multiverse. They know they still face great risks, but they are determined to complete their mission, driven by their friendship and memories of Nick.
