Since childhood, Made is said to have been close friends with Niluh, a girl of mixed Balinese and Japanese heritage.

Made, a young puppeteer from Gianyar, Bali, has been matched with Putu, a puppet maker's son. Made never realized that Niluh, his best friend, who is also a Balinese girl of Japanese descent, has long loved him. Until one day, Niluh will be taken home to Japan by Makoto, her father. That's when Made realized that he loves Niluh. He also realized that his relationship with Putu was never based on love. Made then decided to express his love to Niluh through a unique anime puppet show. However, it turned out that Made's intention was found out by Putu. As a result, Putu and Made's relationship fell apart, while Niluh rejected Made's feelings.
