Lois Thornedyke is a tabloid reporter, who hopes to buy her sleazy paper one day and turn it into a respectable newspaper. She also works as a political aide to New York City's saintly Mayor Franklyn, who plans to fight crime, sleaze and scrupulous journalism. Impressed by his idealism, Lois falls for him and they have a fling. Meanwhile, her gluttonous editor gives her a new partner, photographer Barry Denver, who's into birdwatching. The duo's first assignment is to investigate a high class sex club, where animal-themed costume party is being held. After finding proper attire in the form of a sheep and a bluebird costume, they suit up and leave for the party, where they witness an orgy. However, the festivity gets interrupted by a gang of costumed robbers. Lois and Barry realize that the thieves are after compromising evidence, not money. However, Lois' editor is more interested in simple over the top sleazy stories about sex, deformed babies, greed, murder and incest. Lois and Barry eventually realize that the Mayor may have something to do with the strange going-ons they've witnessed and this puts them in serious danger. Do they give up on the story or see how deep the hole goes?
