A crime boss wants the pub Trinidad in Nyhavn, Copenhagen, but Joakim doesn't want to sell and the pub's regulars are opposed, too. His niece inherits the pub if she'll run it. What about her fiance, the regulars, and the crime boss?

The story is about the people in - and around - the cosy café Trinidad in the Copenhagen canal street, Nyhavn ("New Harbour"). The owner, Joakim Nielsen, runs the place as a second home for the regular customers. The gangster Mr. Schwartz is trying to take over the café, to turn it into a gambling club, but Joakim Nielsen won't sell. When Joakim Nielsen dies, he leaves the café to his niece on the condition that she herself takes leadership of the café. But Schwartz is still plotting to take over using blackmail and other gangster methods. And now all the regular customers must join forces in order to save café Trinidad.
