Archeologist and avid puzzle solver Professor Layton and his assistant Luke think back to one of their earliest cases together... Famed singer Janice Quatlane requests Layton's help after a strange meeting with a little girl. The girl claims to posses eternal life and to be the reincarnation of Janice's friend Melina. Layton and Luke attend Janice's new opera. At the end of the performance, the guests are startled to find that the entire opera house has been converted into a ship and a mystery man now holds them all captive.
