A young woman hits Hollywood, determined to become a star.

Aboard a train to Los Angeles, runaway bride Remember Steddon, believing now that she married in haste, abandons her husband Owen Scudder, unaware that he had previously married and murdered solely for money. Unprepared to be on her own, "Mem", as she is known to her loved ones, accidentally stumbles across the outdoor set of a Hollywood film directed by Frank Claymore. The cast and crew welcome her onto the set, but as shooting progresses she decides to pursue other avenues, as her conservative parents had taught her that movie acting was a disreputable profession. But she needs work, so she decides to try her hand at being an actress--but it's easier said than done until she encounters Claymore again, and he determines to make her a star. As her movie stardom does indeed rise, so does the admiration and adoration of legions, including her director Claymore and her leading man Tom Holby. A further consequence of her stardom is that her parents and Scudder find out where she is. The scandal of being married to a known murderer might jeopardize Mem's budding career.—Huggo
