The confusing story of Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, also known as the Mother of the Khalsa. In reality she became a strong female leader of the Khalsa nation in 17th and 18th-century India but this movie has not done a good job in capturing it.

Synopsis

After bringing India's biggest and most successful animation movie 'Chaar Sahibzaade', IRealties, teamed up with Nihal Nihal Nihal Productions to bring the amazing life story of Guru Gobind Singh's wife, Mata Sahib Kaur, one of the greatest (but mostly unknown) female leaders in the world history. For the first time ever, this movie will showcase a female role model, who's the exemplar of courage, symbol of strength-leadership and the epitome of motherhood - The Mother of Khalsa (Mata Sahib Kaur).

Story: The year is 1675. Guru Tegh Bahadur is publicly beheaded in Delhi for protecting the rights of those oppressed by the Mughals. In Anandpur, his 9 year-old son Guru Gobind Rai receives his father's head, recovered at great risk. He proclaims: the Khalsa will be born soon; this army will always protect the meek and will have the most extraordinary mother. Soon after, in Rohtas (now in Pakistan), Sahib Deva is born. Raised by loving parents and caring villagers, she has a unique charm and brave heart. Despite the growing Mughal threat of forceful conversions, she remains unshaken, confronting the oppression when and where needed.

While growing up, she learns about Guru Gobind Rai, 10th Guru of the Sikhs. Hearing stories of his bravery and brilliance, she becomes Guru's disciple. Inspired by his moral piety, she too becomes a great swordswoman, archer and horse-rider. In 1700, she expressed her willingness to surrender her life for the service of humanity and her deepest wish: to ask for the Guru's hand in marriage. The villagers take Sahib Deva to Anandpur; her dreams come true when the Guru gives her the responsibility of being the mother of the Khalsa. By this point, the Guru has been named 'Guru Gobind Singh', the initiator and father of the fearless Khalsa nation.

Now known as 'Mata Sahib Kaur', she nurtures the Khalsa nation and helps it grow. Just before final departure, the Guru instructs her to live in Delhi with Mata Sundar Kaur (his second wife). He gives her five weapons as a parting gift and places full temporal responsibility in her hands. The Mughal leaders Bahadur Shah, Farrukhsiyar and Zakriyan Khan launched attacks on the Khalsa in Delhi and Punjab. Mata Sahib Kaur, alongside others, retaliates and fights the Mughals. Under her guidance, the Khalsa army becomes stronger. She suffers a great betrayal when Mata Sundar Kaur's adopted son joins the Mughals and is later murdered by them.

In 1722, at the age of 42, Mata Sahib Kaur identifies four year-old Jassa Singh Ahluwalia as the Khalsa's next leader. Prophesying that he will become a great warrior, she teaches him the Khalsa way of living. Growing up into a skilled swordsman, he takes on greater responsibility in Punjab. As the political climate changes, Nadar Shah leads a brutal and bloody invasion of India. Under Mata Sahib Kaur's instruction, Jassa Singh Ahluwalia rallies the Khalsa army and overcomes Nadar Shah's forces. In the true spirit of Mata Sahib Kaur, he frees 10,000 imprisoned women and girls and fulfills her prophecy of becoming the 'Sultan-e-Kaum' and the next leader of the Khalsa!
