During a charity soccer match between top professional side Arsenal and touring amateur side Trojans, the Trojan's new star player collapses. After he dies, Inspector Slade of Scotland Yard is called in and declares it was murder. The story opens with a friendly match between the Arsenal Football Club (a professional football team) and the Trojans (an amateur football team), taking place in the Arsenal Stadium. During the football match, one of the Trojans' players dies suddenly. It is soon determined that he was poisoned with a digitalis-based poison. His girlfriend is the prime suspect in the case, but she dies of poisoning soon after. Suspicion falls on the players of the Trojans, but the police authorities have to find a way to determine which of them is the poisoner.—Dimos I
