The Cocksure Lads, a British band in the vein of their working class 1960s predecessors of the British invasion, have dreams of fame and fortune, and they plan to achieve this goal by conquering America on what is their first overseas gig in, ahem, Toronto (yes, Canada). Shortly after landing in Toronto the day of their concert, things start to go from bad (with the ineffective management by Garant and his not so silent sidekick Tony back in Britain) to worse when an argument erupts between lead singer and lyricist Dusty Fosterboard, and lead guitarist, composer and road manager Reg Topping over money, Dusty who believes the band is nothing without him and thus demands half the royalties instead of what is the equal cut between all four band members. Dusty and Reg have had a tumultuous five year friendship, when in the good times they consider the other their best mate, while in the bad they are literally at each other throats. With Reg not willing to give in, Dusty up and quits the band on the spot, threatening the concert and risking what money has been invested in the trip. Thus, the four band members head in three separate directions on four separate missions: Dusty wants to get as far away from Reg as possible, Reg want to get as far way from Dusty as possible, bass guitarist Derek Millwood wants to find as many Canadian babes to shag as possible, and drummer Blakey Manning, a clean fetishist the result of a childhood incident, he who is hanging with Derek, just wants to find a claw-foot bathtub. Each band mate is ultimately assisted by a Canadian (one really a transplant who likes to think she knows Toronto like the back of her hand) in navigating Toronto but arguably more importantly in discovering what each really wants for this day, achieving which which may be easier said than done. Thrown into the mix is the band's aging driver and roadie, Monty, who may understand the lads better than they realize, a Canadian named Pete who has had a long hatred of British lads and feels the need to show his Canadian superiority over them, and Pete's friend Sam, a stereotypical Canadian.—Huggo
