A troupe of actors arrive in 18th century Peru on the same day as the Viceroy's golden coach. The actors are led by the vivacious Camilla who attracts the attention of several important men including the Viceroy, a handsome young officer and the most famous torero in the region. The Viceroy is so enamored with her that he gives her the golden coach - much to the annoyance of the aristocracy which forces him to take it back.
