McKenzie, a struggling would-be actress has recently moved to the Bay Area, living in a dingy basement apartment. By chance, she meets Oran and Nick, two affectionate activists in San Francisco, and the trio take a road trip to the activists' conservative rural hometown, Elko, Nevada, where McKenzie begins to see the cracks in their relationship.
