'The White Violin', subtitle: 'Ambiguities of Music Electronics', is an art film satire/documentary getting at some difficult truths of the music world. A down and out composer in the mountains hopes that his electric violin will help him form an orchestra and get to Berlin where he will be appreciated. The film examines problems that the digital synthesizing and online music worlds have created for composers and musicians. Among the problems observed are rampant price competition driving down prices for recordings and unemployment created by job replacement of real musicians by digital programs.—John Axline
