Policemen from the Yalta city police department are investigating a high-profile crime committed at the height of the holiday season in the summer of 1971. In one night, there were several attacks on speculators selling bootleg jeans, and one of them was even killed. The day before, all the best operatives left for the All-Union Conference on the exchange of experience, and the murder has to be investigated by very young inexperienced operatives and those who have always been on the sidelines.
