Two estranged friends and their partners struggle to come to grips with each other's differing life styles and differing attitudes to life, job, family and children.

The full-time mother and herd premium recipient Sandra Schätzle meets her old friend, the full-time controller Katrin Krämer. Sandra's husband Erik Schätzle - a medium-sized entrepreneur - meets the freelance and left-wing political journalist on parental leave Steffen Krämer. Sandra and Katrin used to be very good friends when they were students, but then they lost touch. After a chance reunion, the Schätzles invite the Krämers to their home at the weekend and so the two children meet: Sandra's almost four-year-old son Frederick and the three-year-old daughter of the Krämers, Fatme. The meeting of the old friends is very cordial, but behind the self-confidence of the four thirtysomethings it crumbles and the initially idyllic afternoon together in the garden turns into a fiasco. Maintaining one's concept of life becomes a struggle. Over time, any weapon and any means, no matter how vile, is justified in defending one's own form of existence. And so the viewer who witnesses the arguments between the two couples has reason enough to be amused about it and also about himself.—ADR Das Erste
