The young, attractive Gabriela Wegner lives on the island of Usedom, where she runs the small hotel "Seeschlösschen". Since the death of her best friend and business partner, she has lovingly cared for her little daughter Theresa, who is also the sole heir to the hotel property. One day, Amelie and Siegfried Dossenbach burst into this idyll. They introduce themselves as distant relatives of little Theresa and immediately claim custody of the child. Gabriela and Edda, the good soul of the hotel in need of renovation, are shocked. They have no idea that the two are primarily interested in Theresa's inheritance and are already making profitable plans for the future. Amelie and Siegfried try to buy the child's love with expensive gifts and spectacular excursions. In order not to stand by and watch as "their" child and their livelihood are taken away from them, Gabriela and Edda go on the offensive and decide to find Theresa's biological father through a strange newspaper ad with the headline "Two million are looking for a father". After fending off a number of money-hungry con artists, one day the likeable Berlin chef Thomas "Tommy" Behrens appears before them: He is charming, good-looking - and tells them details about their former love affair that only Theresa's father could know. Nevertheless, Gabriela remains suspicious. While she waits day after day for the result of the paternity test, Tommy and Theresa become good friends. But Gabriela also has to admit that she has already taken Tommy deep into her heart. Meanwhile, the Dossenbachs leave no stone unturned to achieve their goal. The situation escalates when Gabriela sees Amelie secretly sending Tommy an envelope with money, and a little later the supposed paternity test proves that Tommy is not Theresa's father after all. Convinced that Tommy has let himself be bought, Gabriela turns away from him in disappointment. Now everything seems lost for the young woman: little Theresa, the hotel, her great love. Only at the very last second, with Edda and Theresa's help, does she discover the whole truth about the Dossenbachs' motives and Tommy's paternity.—ADR Das Erste
