In 1934, Buddhist monks saved the millionaire Franz Hauser from an avalanche in the Himalayas. The story revolves around Bhagwan Das, a salesman, who is torn between his personal and professional life. He meets Lord Shiva, who guides him through his various problems and stays with him during his difficult times.

Cam Brooks, a writer, returns to Millsberg, his hometown, and renews his friendship with the editor of the local newspaper, Lloyd Ramsey. The inhabitants of the town were subjects of Cam's stories.
