S7.E2 ∙ White Right: Meeting the Enemy

Nothing in Ukraine seems the same from day to day. As the cold winds blow, so do the rules. A child who is on the Autism Spectrum in Ukraine can find no place in society. Thus begins the story of NOT FORGOTTEN, a feature documentary that exposes the untold story of Autism in Ukraine. This timely documentary discusses and educates its audience about what can be done to aid and educate professionals and parents who suffer from cultural shame and rejection. Whether in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa or the Americas, every child has definitive value. In Eastern Europe, and particularly Ukraine, the culture does not value children with disabilities, nor has a place for them in society.

In all but one industrialized nation, access to health care is guaranteed as a right of citizenship. People work in different kinds of professions for survival. One of the most interesting professions is the gypsy life. Some particular groups of gypsies live in boats. In Bangladesh, education is not free. The gypsies in this country are so poor that many of them can't even send their children to school. However, a woman who lives there teaches some of the children of the gypsies. Even without proper education, the children are very creative. They can make ceramics with clay. The lifespan of the gypsies is short. They easily die at the age of fifty. It is because of the polluted water they use everyday from the River.

Betsy Dewitt Acquista fell in love with Sal, an Italian American man in New York and they started a family.
