Summary Princess Amue and several other Heraclean women have been abducted by Sincline and are languishing inside a Galran dungeon. When Amue is forced to submit to Sincline's carnal desires as a surrogate Fala, she and the other women plan an escape from this hellish prison. They start a fire and steal a slave ship while the guards are distracted, but it's not long before the Galrans give chase and attack them. They crash-land on the wintry planet Russel, but not before sending out a distress signal that is picked up by the Golion team, Prince Alor, and Sincline.
