Ascari would then make a mistake on lap 22, spinning out on oil. The heat was one big problem for the racers and it had led many to pit and switch drivers. It was said in the post race show to be the hottest race in normal Formula 1 and only Juan Manuel Fangio and Roberto Mieres survived the whole race without partaking in a shared drive. Fangio would be the winner with a time of: 3:00:38.6. He would also face severe burns on his leg but would not miss any champions, (in three months, he recovered ).
