Summary Ash and friends finally reach Rustboro City, and Ash puts his Gym battle plans on hold as our heroes tour the Pokémon Trainer's School. Max takes to the school like a natural, but one boy at the school, Tommy, starts a rivalry with him. The boys get to have a practice battle, and Max is so caught up in strategy that he forgets to use offensive moves. Team Rocket interrupts the battle by stealing all the school's Poké Balls, and all the kids in the Trainer's School class work together to defeat Team Rocket. Max, Tommy, and the other kids become good friends, and Ash gears up for his battle the following day with Roxanne, a Trainer's School teacher and the Rustboro Gym Leader!
