Summary The root is starting to wither and the only cure for it is a dose of the ion winds on Solarus II, a planet controlled by Saw Boss. He destroyed the Solarian people and now uses the healing powers of the winds for his vines. Jayce goes to the planet and is pulled into a mountain by a tractor beam and finds after a few tests of his worthiness that he must be the one to lead the children of Solarus II to safety. Jayce gets the children aboard the Pride and returns to expose the root to the winds. He un-harnesses the winds which destroys the vines, the root thrives once more, and the children look to the future when they may return to their home planet and use their elders knowledge to re-harness the winds.
