Summary When Mike was born he was giving up for adoption. But at the age of 7, he would be given a chance to have a family of his own. His adoptive mother introduced him to the man she was planning to marry. Mike was ecstatic at the idea of having a father figure in his life but got a little nervous when he learned that Kevin would be coming home from prison. His mother and grandfather both assured him that Kevin was a good man who deserved a second chance. Kevin and Mike instantly bonded. He taught Mike how to hunt, fish, and ride a bike. But there was a side to Kevin that Mike didn't like, a sadistic side. Occasionally, Mike would witness his father acting out of line, but when he would try to tell other adults no one would believe him. Everyone would tell Mike that he was only exaggerating his stories. But Mike couldn't shake the feeling that he knew his father was a dangerous man who was capable of getting away with murder.
