Summary Manion and Brander travel to Flat Lake, Iowa - Manion to fight a two-year-old excessive-noise citation from when he drove through town on his motorcycle, and Brander to break up with an old girlfriend face-to-face. The cantankerous local judge in Manion's case (Jerry Vandyke) cites Manion with contempt and puts Manion in jail for a night. While there, Manion meets Brander's girlfriend, who has been charged with murdering her new husband on their honeymoon. To get in the judge's good graces Manion agrees to help solve the case.
