Summary We're in the 1940s. The Germans came to Hungary, whoever they could fled, most of the time illegally. A textile miller escapes to Switzerland, as planned his wife follows him in a few weeks. However shortly before leaving, the woman receives a letter which makes her suspect that her husband has been killed. Therefore she visits Kémeri, whom she then falls in love. Kémeri wants to ensure her safe flee, so he joins the next small group of escapees in disguise.
