Betsy Dewitt Acquista fell in love with Sal, an Italian American man in New York and they started a family. However, a woman who lives there teaches some of the children of the gypsies. Even without proper education, the children are very creative. They can make ceramics with clay. The lifespan of the gypsies is short. They easily die at the age of fifty. It is because of the polluted water they use everyday from the River.
