One day, Li Yu, the princess of Tang who was married to the khan of Jin Zhang Wang Ting escaped after her husband died. They hoped to get a guide from the fortress leading them to the capital. General Ma Shixiang promised them and decided to send Ning. Ning had just invited by the academy in the capital. It's his dream to practice out there. But Ning seemed to find something wrong. Meanwhile, Longqing the prince of Yan was sent to Xiling to be a gymnosophist by his father and he had to pass some difficult assessment to finally join a faction. Meanwhile, Hou came back to the capital because of some mysterious reasons. He seemed to be planing something. Also, the Adjudication Department was trying to destroy the Guangming Faction. Longqing, The Son of Light was ordered to find the Gate of the Mo Sect. He got on the way and left his lover Lu Chenjia behind. By the time, Li Qingshan, the national advisor of Tang seemed to find something wrong.

Li Peiyan, Zhongyi's brother released Zhang Yiqi and decided to use him against a gang called Yulong which was even stronger than the royal court. Meanwhile, Ning and Sangsang arrived in the capital and met Ning's old friend, Zhuo Er who was saved by Ning when they were both kids. They were here to kill Hou, the man who killed their family. That was the main purpose why Ning was here in the capital. For achieving the goal, Zhuo joined the royal court as a spy in Yulong. After he got back to the gang, his identity was exposed but Chao Xiaoshu, the leader of the gang seemed to be not planing to kill him. Also, Yu finally met with her father in the palace.

Yu met her father and became reconciled with him. She also met Chongming, the prince of Yan, Longqing's brother who was the hostage of Tang for many years but always wanted to pay back. He was Yu's lover before she was gone to another place. He pretended to be hopeless but he was actually planning something big. Meanwhile, Ning and Sangsang rented a shop at a street that owned by Yulong. They sell Ning's calligraphy for making money. Chao seemed to be interested in Ning. While Ning and Sangsang were playing around the city, Zhuo was chasing by Zhang's men. He was ordered to investigate the murder of the ex of Zhang by Chao. Zhuo lest a message to Ning before he died. Later, Ning got the message and decided to revenge for Zhuo. He followed Zhang to a brothel and started the investigation.
