Kou Shurrei is busy working her many jobs when she is visited by an important guest and given an opportunity for a job to make more money than she could have imagined, and one that could change more than the weight of her purse.
Shuurei after meeting King Shi Ryuuki, who pretending to be someone else, she needs to figure out a way to admit his identity and accept his responsibilities.
After a month in the palace, Shuurei and King Shi Ryuuki continue being tutored by Li Kouyuu, while big rumors spread about the nightly romance between Shuurei and the King.
Shuurei finds out that Ryuuki had been 'playing dumb' the entire time, at the same time, Ryuuki also finds out that she was a paid temporary consort for him. Ryuuki comes up with a contest to win money and Shuurei's forgiveness.
Things start to go missing of Shuurei's, it turns out that they were poisoned, but she is being kept in the dark. General Ran Shuuei's younger brother, Ryuuren, shows up in the palace and causes a ruckus.

Ryuuki works on a proposal that will make Shuurei's dream come true, and will also affect all women and the country. Now back at home, Shuurei picks up a man who had collapsed outside her house because of the heat.
A side story that took place after the aptitude test but before the results were received. Shuurei gets sick; there are flashbacks, visitors and enough trouble keep everyone on their toes.
Shuurei passed the aptitude test and can take the exam. Others who have come to take the exam from other regions are coming into the city, however this draws those who wish to take advantage out of the shadows.
Shuurei and Eigetsu pass the exams, and start their journeys as officials. Though it an easy path for the first woman nor the youngest under the strict Instructor Ro.
Kou Reishin is under arrest because of the rumor that he used dishonest methods during the exam. Shuurei and Eigetsu after being freed from capture, need to complete some documents to incriminate the culprit behind all of this.
The Court Officials are holding an inquiry not only for the rumor of Shuurei's capabilities and results on the exam, but also to report on the improper deeds of the Official that was behind everything.
Shuurei and Eigetsu as well as all of the other new officials are given their placements in the Royal Court, which some placements cause a ruckus in the court.
