Carry on Laughing

The Case of the Screaming Winkles
A silly, bawdy spoof on the Lord Peter Wimsey detective stories. Poison, a meal of shellfish, a revenge plot which is rooted in long-gone murders in Bangalore and Calcutta; a villain who revels in disguise and trickery.

Short Knight, Long Daze
Though all seems to be well in-hand (pun intended. Remember, this IS a 'Carry On'), all is not as it seems. King Arthur & Lady Guenievere arrive at their court- they find out that amongst other problems, Sir Point-Of-No-Return has left the Round Table - with all it's money, and the kingdom is on the verge of collapse. After casting a spell on Lady Guennivere, a spirit voice announces that a man from 'Northern Climes' will come to save the kingdom. A man frm the north does arrive - and after telling the king he's known as the 'boil doctor,' he's dubbed Sir Lancelot. A duel takes place between those who wish to claim the throne, and Sir Lancelot, who ultimately saves the kingdom

The Case of the Coughing Parrot
A spoof on Dorothy L. Sayers' mysteries about Lord Peter Wimsey and his valet Bunter. Of course, here they're renamed Flimsy and Punter. Poking fun at Brit class distinctions. Joan Sims was so versatile an actress, she steals the episodes.

Who Needs Kitchener?
A bawdy spoof on the Age of Empire and on the TV series Upstairs Downstairs. An aging general and his grown son who is evading being shipped out to fight in the Boer War in Africa. Joan Sims as the cook is especially wonderfully apt.

Lamp-Posts of the Empire
A bawdy spoof of the Victorian era when the newspaper reporter Mr. Stanley was sent out to find Dr. Livingstone. Add in a man-chasing beautiful woman, an articulate witch doctor with perfect upper-class English, magic acts and spells, etc.
