Anansi comes to Dakota to get a rare spider artifact from Dr. Anokye, who has brought it to the Dakota History Museum as part of an African artifact exhibit.
Static and Hotstreak are kidnapped and forced to team up in an escape, during which they rescue other meta-humans who have also been kidnapped for experimentation with the statue of Edwin Alva Jr.
Mr. Hawkins takes Sharon, Virgil, and Richie to a pro charity football game, where they meet Dulé Jones, who grew up in Dakota. A new meta-human named Chain Link attacks Dulé because of their history, and Static and Gear help Dulé out.
As the doctors find and distribute a cure, all the bang babies start to lose all their powers and begin turning back to normal, including static and gear. Not everyone is happy about going back to normal so the meta gang steal some of the original big bang gas in the hopes of making their own big bang, giving them there powers back. Can static and gear stop them before their own powers run out?
