Jenson Button was disqualified from 3rd place after race following the discovery of an additional tank and Takuma Sato lost his four points (5th). The FIA banned drivers and his team from the next two races as a result.
All fourteen cars running on Michelin tyres pulled into the pits at the end of the opening lap on safety grounds. The race was run with only six cars, all using Bridgestone tires.
