A Magnificent Racing Animal
2017 celebrates the 65th edition of the Giraglia Rolex Cup, one of the most famous off-shore races in the yachting calendar. Conceived just after the end of World War 2, to promote friendship between France and Italy, the action starts in the historic port of St Tropez with three days of in-shore racing. Then follows the main event, a 243 nautical mile charge across the Mediterranean to Genoa Italy, passing the iconic Giraglia Rock on the way.

The Fastnet, Foils and the French
This is a sporting institution, 340 boats on a 603 nautical mile charge, battling whatever weather conditions are thrown at them, as they make their way across the ocean from Cowes, to the symbol of the race, the Fastnet Rock, before heading back to Plymouth. This race first conceived in 1925 is the ultimate test of both inshore and offshore sailing skills and is unquestionably one of the greatest events in the international yachting calendar.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race takes place in October, in the heart of the Mediterranean, the final event of the European sailing season. Starting in the historic setting of Valletta's Grand Harbour, the fleet travels through probably the most visually stunning course in the world, as it makes its way around Sicily. Along the 606 nautical mile journey, sights include, the Strait of Messina, the azure clear waters of Sicily, the Islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa and the ultimate highlight, the active volcano of Stromboli, before returning to Malta. Tactically demanding, with famously changeable weather conditions, this is a classic test of seamanship.
