This inaugural event staged during the Acura Miami Race week attracted a strong field of competitors from as far a field as Hong Kong and Ireland. A rapidly growing class of pure racing thoroughbreds, the TransPac 52 can hit exhilarating speeds. The blue waters off Miami South Beach and the open ocean stretches of the Bahamas are perfect conditions for these racers to flex some sailing muscle.

Sailing the Siren Isle
Following a successful introduction last season, the Rolex Capri Sailing Week returns to the turquoise waters of Capri providing spirited competition for the start of the Mediterranean racing season. The strikingly picturesque island provides a stunning backdrop to the on-the-water racing action in the Bay of Naples for the Swan 45 and Farr 40 one-designs, the I.M.A. Mini Maxi, and the Comet classes.

A Winning Team

This coveted team trophy, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, is competed for every two years. ISAF has designated the Sardinia Rolex Cup the Offshore Team World Championship. The beautiful harbour of Porto Cervo nestled among the startling rocks of Sardinia's Costa Smeralda plays host to 7 teams. Each nation team participating at the Sardinia Rolex Cup 2006 will comprise three yachts: a Farr 40, a Swan 45 and a TP52.

The waters off Valencia become the focus of world attention once more as upwards of 100 boats compete over 3 days for this years' Rolex Trofeo SM La Reina. Spanish royalty feature strongly in this event with His Majesty Juan Carlos I an avid TP52 sailor and the Real Club Naútico de Valencia hosting the event.

A Passion to Win
Upwards of 30 boats - all identical in design - will race over four days in ten challenging races for the world championship crown, the World Cup. One of the most hotly competitive events on this years calendar takes place in Newport, RI, USA. Each crew is made up of four professional and five to six amateur sailors including the owner/helmsman. Racing is precise, tactical and intense and as with any world championship it will be representing most of the world's top sailing nations.

The Costa Smeralda provides a stunning setting and a variety of great, challenging conditions for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, one of the highlights of the Mediterranean yachting season. Three of the largest and most powerful Super - Maxi racers will meet for the first time and speculation over which boat can claim to have the fastest design will be put to rest. The Nautor Swan world championships start as soon as the Maxi's have resolved their battle. Upwards of 100 Swan yachts compete in this week-long regatta.

Majesty and Miracles
The Rolex Middle Sea Race takes place in the heart of the Mediterranean and covers one of the most beautiful courses in the world. Unique in that it starts and finishes in Malta, the route includes the deep azure waters of Sicily and the Straits of Messina, the islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa, and even features Stromboli's active volcano as a course mark.

The Great Race

Mention the leading ocean races in the world, and the Rolex Sydney Hobart is certainly in the top three. This 628-mile offshore race organised by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia provides a tough test for skippers, tacticians and crews alike. This year's race will be the 62nd annual edition of this time-honoured event and the race start will again provide the entertainment for hundreds of thousands of Australians enjoying the spectacular scenes on Sydney Harbour.
